Facebook introduces Live 360 video feature
On 16th December, Facebook Product Manager, Supratik Lahiri, and Software Engineer, Chetan Gupta announced the release of Live 360, a new video viewing experience.
As the original announcement explains, Live 360 will combine 360-degree video with live broadcasting, which will allow viewers to immerse themselves fully into the scene as the action unfolds.
On 13th December at 12pm PT / 3pm ET, Live 360 was launched with a live National Geographic stream from the Mars Desert Research Station facility in Utah. Following the broadcast, Live 360 video will be available via the live API in the coming months. It will then be rolled out for all Pages and Profiles next year.
